How to Reboot an Instance from Customer Portal

This Knowledge Base article provides a step-by-step guide on how to reboot an instance in IPServerOne user portal. The process is straightforward and can be completed in a few simple steps. This guide is intended for users who have basic familiarity with IPServerOne user interface.




Step 1: Accessing Instances

  • Log in to your NovaCloud account.
  • Navigate to the dashboard and click on the ‘NovaCloud’ menu.
  • From the dropdown options, select ‘Instances’ to view your current instances.



Step 2: Identifying the Instance

  • In the ‘Instances’ section, browse through the list to find the instance you want to reboot.
  • Verify the instance’s details (like its name or IP address) to ensure you are selecting the correct one.



Step 3: Initiating the Reboot

  • Next to your chosen instance, locate the ‘Actions’ button. Click on it to reveal a list of possible actions.
  • From the list of actions, select ‘Reboot’. This will prompt a new action window.



Step 4: Choosing Reboot Type

  • In the action window, you will be presented with two options: ‘Soft Reboot’ and ‘Hard Reboot’.
    • Soft Reboot: This is a graceful reboot, similar to a standard operating system restart. Use this option for routine reboots.
    • Hard Reboot: This option simulates the power being abruptly cut off and then restored. Choose this for instances that are unresponsive or experiencing critical issues.

  • Select the appropriate reboot option based on your needs.
