How to Retrieve the Windows Administrator Password
Overview
This tutorial will guide you through on how to retrieve the Windows administrator password which is initialized based on your key-pair.
Prerequisite
- Register and log in to your Customer Portal account.
- Top-up credit to launch Cloud Instance.
- Launch your first Cloud Instance from the Portal.
Instructions
Step 1: Once logged in, drop-down NovaCloud menu on the left and click Instances. Select Retrieve Password under Actions.
Step 2: Enter your private key.
Tips: Your private key was provided when you generated a public key for this instance. Please use the private key downloaded for this step.
You can open the private key file with a text editor (e.g. Notepad) to view its content, then Copy & Paste it to the field.
Step 3: Decrypt your password.
Result:
NOTE: Your administrator password will be displayed in the text box. Make sure to store it in a safe place or password manager (e.g. KeePass) and do consider to change the password after logging in.
