SSL certificate new validity period
The validity period for SSL/TLS certificates has changed due to updated industry standards set by major Certificate Authorities (CAs) and web browser vendors. This change applies to all SSL providers globally, including IP ServerOne. It is driven by efforts to strengthen overall internet security, reduce the risk of compromised or misissued certificates, and encourage faster adoption of updated security standards. Effective March 15, 2026, SSL/TLS certificates will have shorter maximum lifetimes, with further reductions scheduled for the coming years.
Below is the updated SSL/TLS certificate validity timeline:
| Effective Date | Maximum Certificate Validity |
|---|---|
| Before 15 March 2026 | 398 days |
| 15 March 2026 | 200 days |
| 15 March 2027 | 100 days |
| 15 March 2029 | 47 days |
Starting 1 March 2026, new SSL certificates issued by IP ServerOne will follow the 200-day validity period, and renewals from 15 March 2026 onwards will also comply with the new industry standard.
To avoid service disruption, we strongly recommend renewing your SSL certificate at least 30 days before expiry. If you wish to retain the current 398-day validity, the certificate must be validated and activated by 1 March 2026. Certificates activated after this date will follow the new 200-day validity period.
Should there be any further updates from our vendors, we will keep you informed.
