How to quick unblock an IP address in WHM

Last updated on |

Introduction

The Quick Unblock feature in WHM’s ConfigServer Security & Firewall (CSF) allows administrators to remove an IP address from both temporary and permanent blocks. This is particularly useful when a legitimate user is accidentally blocked due to repeated failed login attempts or triggered firewall rules.

Prerequisites

  • Root or administrative access to WHM

  • The IP address you wish to unblock

  • Basic familiarity with WHM’s interface

  • ConfigServer Security & Firewall (CSF) installed on the server

Steps to Quick Unblock an IP address in WHM

Step 1: Log in to WHM

  1. Open your browser and navigate to your WHM login page (e.g., https://your-server-ip:2087).
  2. Enter your root or reseller credentials and click Login.

Step 2: Access ConfigServer Security & Firewall

From the WHM sidebar:

  1. In the search bar, type firewall.

  2. Under Plugins, click ConfigServer Security & Firewall.

Step 3: Search for the IP Address

  • Locate the Search for IP field.

  • Enter the IP address you want to check and press Enter or click Search for IP.

If the IP is blocked, you will see details of the block.

Step 4: Quick Unblock the IP

  • Click Quick Unblock to remove the IP from both temporary and permanent blocks.

Conclusion

Using the Quick Unblock option in WHM allows you to promptly restore access for a blocked IP without manually editing firewall files. This is essential for minimizing downtime and ensuring legitimate users can reconnect quickly.
