Introduction

This Knowledge Base article provides a step-by-step guide on How to Create New Database User Account in cPanel. Creating separate database users allows you to control access to your databases, assign different permissions, and improve security by not sharing your main cPanel login. This also makes it easier to manage multiple projects or applications, as each user can be configured with only the privileges they need.

Prerequisite

  • Access to your cPanel login page.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

  • Access and log in to your cPanel account using your username and password.

Step 2: Open Manage My Databases

  • In the Home page, under Databases, click Manage My Databases.

Step 3: Navigate to the Database Users Section

  • On the Manage My Databases page, scroll to the Database Users section.

Step 4: Enter User Details

  • Fill in the required fields:
    1. Username: Enter the desired username for your new database user.
    2. Password: Enter and confirm a strong password, or use the Password Generator (refer to Step 5).
    3. Password (Again): Re-enter the password for confirmation.

⚠️ Important Note:

  • Username must be alphanumeric characters.
  • Passwords must be at least 5 characters long.
  • Password strength must be at least 65.

Step 5: (Optional) Use the Password Generator

  1. Click Password Generator to create a strong password automatically.
  2. The Password Generator pop-up window will appear.
  3. You can click Generate Password to refresh and create a new one.
  4. You can adjust the Advanced Options (such as length and characters) to generate the type of password you want.
  5. Once the password is generated:
    • Copy it and save it somewhere safe.
    • Check the box “I have copied this password in a safe place.”
    • Click Use Password to apply it.

Step 6: Create the User

  • Click Create User to create the new database user.

Step 7: Verify the User Creation

  • Scroll to the Current Users section.
  • The newly created database user will appear in the list if it was successfully created.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can easily create a new database user account in cPanel using Manage My Databases. This helps you assign secure, unique credentials for each database user.
