How to Check if Your Website Has Been Hacked

A hacked website by a high profile hacker can be seen easily because normally they will just replace the index page to let everyone know what they had done. However, injected code can be hidden, and it’s always too late when you find out, because the damage had already been done. To detect this earlier, there is a tool where you can use to run a quick scan on your website.

The tool will run a quick scan on your website index page and a simple report will be made available for you to view. If no suspicious code found, a result will be displayed as below:

status: Verified Clean
web trust: Not Blacklisted

If malicious content is found in the index page, the result will display something like:

status: Site infected with malware

If this appears, scroll down to the report to review the suspicious content that the tool has found. There is a section in the report highlighting where suspicious content in the index file printed on the report. Once you have reviewed the suspicious content and have determined that it is malicious, proceed to remove it in your index file.

There will be several external tests recommended to you in the report, which is worth the time doing to secure your site.
