How to Disable/Enable cPanel Login Notifications

Last updated on |

Introduction

Protecting your cPanel account is critical to safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining the overall security of your hosting environment. Unauthorized access can lead to data breaches, website defacement, or service disruptions, making proactive security measures essential.

One simple but effective way to strengthen your account’s security is by enabling login notifications. These alerts will notify you whenever a successful login occurs, allowing you to quickly detect any suspicious activity and take immediate action if necessary.

In this guide, you will learn how to configure login notifications in cPanel to ensure you stay informed about access to your account and maintain tighter control over your hosting environment.

Prerequisites

  • Access to cPanel: Ensure you have a valid cPanel account with login credentials.
  • Basic cPanelKnowledge: Familiarity with navigating the cPanel interface is recommended.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Log in to Your cPanel Account

Access your cPanel account using the following URL and your login credentials:

Set Up Login Notification Alerts

  1. In cPanel, use the search bar at the top right corner.
  2. Search for “Contact Information” and click the result.
  3. Under Contact Preferences, enable the following alerts:
    • Someone logs in to my account
    • Send login notifications, even when the user logs in from an IP address range or netblock that contains an IP address from which a user successfully logged in previously.
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

Important Notes

  • Notifications for the same username, IP address, and service are only sent once every 24 hours.
  • If you are not receiving alerts, check whether the login IP is:
    • Whitelisted under cPHulk’s IP whitelist, or
    • Listed in the cPHulk country whitelist.

Conclusion

Enabling login notifications in cPanel helps enhance your account’s security by keeping you informed of access activity. If you encounter issues, check your cPHulk settings or reach out to your hosting provider for further assistance.
